February 23 - Camtasia final?? Please take a look and tell me what I've missed :-) I found out how to make the song quieter, but found that when the volume was such that you could actually hear it, it detracted from Jeannette's voice - it was too distracting. So I plugged it in at the end, after the talking. Hope that is okay. It isn't perfect, but it beats 'jinging'! I'll wait until I've heard from everyone before adding it to the powerpoint.
I've checked it out and I think it is wonderful (except for the voice!!!). I think you can certainly place it in the PowerPoint for Monday. By the way, did the initial animation try-out come through on your memory stick okay? JJ
I'm so glad that you found this Camtasia...still a mystery as to how you did, but yeah you!
I take it that you will put the .pdf or .doc of our parallel design in too, as we discussed? I have checked it as well...fabulous!

Sample of slides in Camtasia - I can see that we will need to be careful about the placement of text to the right of the slides. I added in a fade in fade out transition to all - do we need this, or no transition? Also, we can use a zoom feature to highlight particular buttons, but I think need to wait until the voice is in. Chris, as you write the script, you may find these slides useful. The 'add story icon' option at the beginning becomes our first example of adding a picture, which we can talk about explicitly and say that adding other pictures follows the same process ... take a look. We can still make thousands of changes! :-)
Also, I put the virti-cue song in on the first slide, but think it may be a bit long - what do you think? Perhaps we could find a short little sequence from Garage Band? Anyone musically inclined out there??? (I know who you are!) Do you still want this? I'm thinking that now that the Virt-cue song is advertising at the end, we don't need anything else? I'll certainly create a short motif if needed? JJ

Great work, Robin. I think we may need to be more explicit about differentiating the icon picture from the story pictures. This becomes particularly apparent when we come to the screen where you have the option to add more pictures. I can imagine a user getting confused as to whether this means adding more icon pictures or story pictures. Can we name the pictures designated for icons as "icon picture" and the others as "story pictures?" Something that will set them apart so the user knows that one picture is to be used for an icon while the others are for stories.

I'm not certain what this would look like - as 'icon pictures' (aka clip art, take a picture, my pictures) could all be used as icons, or as pictures in the social script. Let's talk about this on Wednesday and make a decision as a group. I thought at first it may be confusing, but then thought if we make it explicit, as you have in the script below, that the process of choosing an icon is very much the same as adding a picture, that we would be okay. We may need to run it through both ways to see which makes the most sense. Also, I see that we have the same icons for 'choose a story icon' and 'clip art' - is this okay? - Or "Aha!" is this what you are talking about above?? I feel so slow!! Looking forward to 'seeing the light'!

Feb 21- Hi all, Robin, Fantastic work. I really liked the way you added our ‘Virti cue Song’ and presented the first slide with a pink magnifying glass which kind of gives a cue to the user. I was wondering if we should continue this in the following slides as well as it highlights the action required??

The 'sample' is just a sample - we will not be using it - if we were to put the 'magnifying' effect on each slide at this time, we would have to re-do it all for the final. So it is there just to give an idea of what we can include - I like the way it highlights as well. The way in which Camtasia works is that we take a 'video' of the png of the slide - a png made from a word doc using jing. After the video has been taken, it is added to the show in Camtasia, then at that point we can add various effects, such as zooming and transitions. Make sense? We'll mess around with it tomorrow. Thanks for the ideas.

You have three options: select an icon from clip art, take a new picture instantly with your portable device, or choose an existing photo stored on your device. Let’s take a new picture for our icon. Take your picture by clicking on the camera icon. Virti-cue now prompts you to decide whether or not to keep this picture. Here are two collections of icons to consider. The first gives a unity, a continuity to our product and to the tutorial. There are other sets out there of course, but these were FREE. The B set, belong to one style set, advisable in the research (will find it again!). The A set, are separate ideas from the set that Robin initially bought and used (I have since jumped on the bandwagon too). These would give us our own sense of connection etc. although I'm not sure if there are enough to serve our purposes. The A set has several examples, just scroll down to view. The B set I have already culled: Don't know if there are enough of what we need, but I do like the consistency of color and design. See what you think. Possibly we don't need icons/graphics for everything? Plus, these are a mixture of non-active icon images and graphics, so we can mix and match if we wish...with care of course!

Here are some of the icons I have short listed after viewing millions, Please feel free to add/edit/etc. Rationale- Consistency , hence all the icons are square . - ‘Record’ icon is different from ‘play recording’ Graphic of film strip distinguishes it. - Adding Music/sound is different than adjusting the sound level while viewing the recording. Graphic on the iconillustrates the point. - Importance of colours -using ‘red’ for stop is naturally understood - Importance of graphic- using a graphic for taking a video distinguishes it from the button ‘viewing the video’ - Our users may want to import video from cloud hence an icon for ‘cloud’ is created.
